We've been fortunate to attend weekly park group in the new ward, and I've really enjoyed getting to know the other moms in my neighborhood. In addition to our regular park meetup, we planned a zoo day, too. Everyone shared passes with those who don't have them (ME) so we could all go together.
Aspen loves the elephants. We spent the most time here and she is convinced at least one of them is named Horton.
It was definitely a mistake to go into the gorilla house, but even though Aspen screamed bloody murder when that giant ape looked at us through the window, I enjoyed the experience.
Unfortunately there's still a lot of construction at the zoo, so I wasn't able to cross over and get a better photograph of this beautiful peacock. I don't think I've ever seen one open its tail before, so I was excited to see this. The colors are so much more vibrant in person (and it made me feel like my bathroom paint color is spot on with a real peacock!).
It was so nice to spend a few hours at the zoo with new friends. Aspen has quite the buddy in a little 5 (and a HALF) year old girl and it's fun to see them together. Every day I'm grateful for this neighborhood and the kind people in it.
I'm glad you've found a nice neighborhood to raise Aspen in. Her hair is getting so long! And friends that share zoo passes rock.
ReplyDeleteYou got some great pictures. I cant wait to take the girls to the zoo although it might not be until fall now since its getting hot. Thats so fun you do a play group with your ward. I didnt find out about ours until we had been in the ward like 2.5 years, thanks a lot for inviting me sooner. Oh well.
